The sketch above shows the future home of our new Paris Library! I’ll think of this sketch as the “Before” picture! The “Upper Town” as some remember this area being called, is going to be a great location for our new Library!
Several years ago Linda Schuyler, creator of Degrassi, graciously donated $1 Million dollars to help the County of Brant buy the Old Town Hall from a private owner. The County named it the Bawcutt Centre after her late father, former Paris Mayor Jack Bawcutt.
On September 24, 2021 the County of Brant announced we are poised to transform this beautiful 1854 neo-Gothic building into the new main branch of the County of Brant Library. We are all pretty excited (including Linda, I’m told) and can’t wait to see this building evolve into its new purpose.

While I will miss a lifetime of memories in our original Carnegie Library, I am eager to see the opportunities made available with this new project.
