I’m a big fan of Paris Painted Rocks and the talent and spirit of kindness behind them. Here is a story that dates back to when I started my new role as Ward 2 Councillor at the County of Brant, a very special Paris Painted Rocks story:
When I first began my campaign for local office, I spoke to the recently retired County of Brant CAO Paul Emerson. I have a tremendous respect for Paul and how he performed his functions for the County, so I specifically asked him for guidance on how to do a good job representing the people of Ward 2 if I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity.
Paul’s response included this specific advice: Always treat people with Respect and Empathy.
So, I approached two very talented local artists and asked them if they would create special Paris Rocks for me with the words Respect and Empathy on them. They generously agreed.
Starting December 3, 2018 these two rocks have been sitting on or in my desk in Council Chambers as a constant reminder of how to do my best to serve the people of the County of Brant.
Thank you Paul Emerson for the valuable advice and thank you Karen Gregory and Horbie Farnsworth for sharing your talent.
