$12.5 Million Affordable Housing Project slated for Paris in the News

There is a good news story about our next Affordable Housing project in the Paris Independent by Casandra Turnbull. This is a complex endeavour and the story explains it very well. Our community needs LOTS of new housing that is Affordable/Attainable. As I said to the reporter: we need many more of these throughout the County to serve our many residents who are looking for housing solutions that don’t break the bank. I have said this many, many times: while expensive houses are in high demand here, not everyone needs that type of housing product. We need more modest housing solutions, especially in the rental category. If we can’t get the Developers to build enough of them, then we will have to build them ourselves. Our new Official Plan will help move us in the right direction.

Many local residents don’t realize that we are partnered with Brantford on Affordable Housing and that the existing building on Trillium is run by the City of Brantford. The sooner we can start this project, the better!

An article in the Expositor by Vincent Ball from March 23, 2022 also describes the significant new investment in Affordable and Attainable housing for our community at 170 Trillium Way. I was about 12 years old when the original Seniors apartment building on Trillium Way was built and we have not seen very much progress in Affordable housing in Paris since that time. I am VERY pleased to see this project becoming a reality in Ward 2! ❤️
