I am honoured to have the opportunity to represent Ward 2 for another 4 years and I look forward to sharing that experience with Lukas Oakley, Brant County Ward Two Councillor.
For those who enjoy a little math on a Tuesday afternoon, here are some numbers for you to digest:
In the last election (2018), approximately 38% of the eligible voters participated in the election, County wide. In Ward 2 a total of 4051 votes were cast for Councillors. Assuming most people use both of their votes, that means around 2000 Ward 2 voters showed up to the polls in 2018. At that time, there were 4813 eligible voters , so that indicates around 40% of eligible voters from Ward 2 participated in that election (which is consistent with the County wide turnout).
This time, the County’s overall voter turnout was 27.41%. There were 5994 eligible voters in Ward 2. A total of 3144 votes were cast for Councillors. Assuming most people use both of their votes, that means around 1572 voters from Ward 2 came to the polls via online or in person methods, which equals 26% turnout.
That’s a lot of number crunching but it’s interesting and noteworthy to see the statistics.
Thank you to all who voted!
I am very grateful to continue to be involved and my sincere thank you to the many helpers and “Campaign Button endorsements” during this campaign.
