I like to tell people that I have lived here since 1966…which is an attempt at a cute way of explaining that I have lived in Paris all my life. Through that lifetime, including my career I have had a unique set of experiences that has allowed me to develop the rare combination of really understanding the people of my own community and what’s going on in other communities.
From that perspective, I have identified what I believe are the top priorities for all of us:
Controlling Residential Growth: We can’t stop growth, but we have to manage it very carefully, with a sustainable approach. Learn More
Creation of Modest Housing Solutions: Serving people of all ages. We need a broader variety, including more modest options. Learn More
Strategic Economic Development: Attract good jobs, in appropriate locations and encourage the success of small and large businesses. Learn More
Protection and Celebration of our Heritage Features: Preserve our small town charm. Learn More
Expansion of Arts & Culture: Enhance the quality of life for all residents. Learn More
These priorities all connect: We want to manage residential growth, but we need to ensure that we have an adequate supply of the right types of housing being built for our residents. People who live here need a solid mix of housing types and jobs to pay for that housing. And when you are not working, you want a life that is enriched and enjoyable and healthy in every possible way. I believe we can “steer this ship” to maintain small town charm while we manage the inevitable growth that comes from being a Town located in the heart of Southwestern Ontario.
Over the last 4 years I have demonstrated my passion for representing the residents of Ward 2, with an emphasis on open communication. I love the County of Brant and especially Paris and I hope to continue playing an active role in its governance as one of your councillors for Ward 2.
Thank you for taking the time to read through my thoughts about these priorities and if you have any questions, or want me to come visit you on your front porch, please contact me!
